    Tannenberg ski resort

Tannenberg is a micro-resort suited only to absolute beginners, young children, or locals seeking a quick ski fix near St. Gallen. With just 0.4 km of piste and a 59 m vertical drop, this is not a destination resort - it is a practice slope masquerading as a ski area. The single lift and minimal terrain mean you will exhaust the hill in under an hour, making it useful only as a training ground for toddlers or a novelty outing.

The honest caveats are substantial. Snow reliability is poor at 17/100, reflecting the low base elevation of 789 m in the Alps - you will frequently find yourself on thin cover or closed entirely. The CHF 78 day pass is steep for what amounts to a nursery slope. Off-piste is non-existent (1/5 rating). Unless you are a parent with a three-year-old or live within 20 minutes, Tannenberg offers no compelling reason to visit when dozens of proper ski resorts exist within reach across Switzerland and the border regions.
