Speicher is a micro-resort suited to absolute beginners, young children, and families seeking a gentle introduction to skiing in the Swiss Alps without the crowds or expense of major destinations. With just 1.4 km of piste, four easy runs, and a modest 104 m vertical drop, this is not a place to build serious technique or chase vertical - it is a confidence-building hill where nervous skiers can find their feet on forgiving terrain. The location in Appenzell Ausserrhoden places it in a quieter corner of Switzerland, away from the international circus.

The standout strength is simplicity: two lifts, uncomplicated terrain, and a day pass at CHF 78 that won't break the bank. Snow reliability is rated as good, which is respectable for a low-altitude Alpine resort sitting between 920 m and 1024 m. The season runs November through April, giving a reasonable window for winter visits. However, the honest caveat is that this resort has almost nothing for intermediate or advanced skiers - you will exhaust the terrain in a morning, and there is virtually no off-piste opportunity (1/5 rating). This is a one-trick pony, and that trick is teaching beginners. If you are looking for a full day of varied skiing, or any kind of challenge, look elsewhere.
