Menthières ski resort

Menthières is a micro-resort in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region that suits only the most niche skiers - primarily families with very young children taking their first turns, or locals seeking a quick, low-commitment outing. With just 0.3 km of piste, a 27 m vertical drop, and three lifts serving a base elevation of 1076 m, this is not a destination resort. It is a beginner's nursery slope masquerading as a ski area.

The honest caveat is snow reliability: at moderate (23/100), Menthières will frequently lack sufficient cover, especially given its modest base altitude. The EUR 60 day pass is reasonable for what it is, but you are paying for convenience and learning space, not terrain variety or challenge. There is virtually no off-piste opportunity (1/5 rating), and the season runs December to April - typical for the Alps but unreliable here.

We recommend Menthières only if you are a parent introducing a toddler to skis within an hour's drive, or a local seeking a quick warm-up run. For any serious skiing holiday, look elsewhere in the Alps. This is a training hill, not a resort.
