Mellau ski resort

Mellau is a modest, family-friendly resort in Austria's Vorarlberg region that suits intermediate skiers and families seeking a low-pressure, affordable Alpine experience. With 30 easy runs and a gentle 1231 m vertical, it's ideal for those building confidence or looking to avoid the crowds and hype of bigger names. The EUR 62 day pass is genuinely good value, and the 27 lifts keep lines manageable across the 24.4 km of terrain.

The honest caveat: snow reliability here is poor, rated just 19/100, which means you'll be gambling on conditions from November through April. This is a resort that depends heavily on artificial snowmaking and good fortune. Off-piste options are limited (2/5 rating), so advanced skiers seeking deep powder or technical terrain will feel constrained. The vertical drop, while respectable at 1231 m, doesn't deliver the long, flowing descents that make Alpine skiing memorable.

Mellau works best as a convenient local hill for Vorarlberg residents or as a low-key base for exploring the broader Bregenzerwald ski region. Go here for relaxed, affordable skiing in a genuine Austrian village setting, not for challenging terrain or guaranteed snow. Check conditions carefully before committing.
