Yuanjia Village ski resort

Yuanjia Village is not a serious ski destination - it is a novelty winter attraction in rural Shaanxi province that suits only those seeking a curiosity experience or a brief family outing in a region with minimal skiing infrastructure. The 0.4 km of piste and 35 m vertical drop make it barely a ski area at all; you are looking at a short, gentle slope rather than any meaningful terrain.

The standout caveat is snow reliability, rated at a dismal 1/100. This is not a place where you can count on snow. Winters in this part of China are dry and unpredictable, and at just 628 m base elevation, natural snow is sporadic at best. The CNY 400 day pass is shockingly expensive for what amounts to a token slope - that price rivals world-class Alpine resorts with hundreds of kilometres of terrain. Off-piste is non-existent (1/5 rating), and there is no backcountry skiing here.

We would only recommend Yuanjia Village to travellers already in Shaanxi who want to tick a box or introduce very young children to snow play in a controlled setting. It is not worth planning a ski trip around, and it certainly does not justify the day-pass cost. If you are serious about skiing in China, look elsewhere.
