The National Biathlon Centre in Hebei is a specialist venue built for the 2022 Winter Olympics, not a traditional ski resort. With just 2 km of piste, a single lift, and a 360 m vertical drop, this is essentially a training and competition facility that opens to the public during winter months. It suits dedicated biathlon enthusiasts, Olympic heritage tourists, and those seeking a novelty experience in China's emerging winter sports landscape - not skiers or snowboarders looking for a day on the mountain.

The facility's strengths are its Olympic credentials, good snow reliability for the region, and the unique appeal of skiing where elite athletes train. However, the caveats are severe: the terrain is minimal by any standard, the single lift means queuing and limited terrain variety, off-piste opportunities are virtually non-existent, and at CNY 400 for a day pass, the value proposition is poor compared to established resorts.
