Malo polje Igman (ZOI '84) ski resort

Malo polje Igman is a heritage ski area with Olympic pedigree - it hosted slalom events during the 1984 Winter Games - but it is emphatically not a destination resort. With just 1.6 km of piste and 290 m of vertical, this is a training hill and local playground, best suited to families seeking a modest day out, school groups, or skiers curious about Balkan skiing history. The EUR 30 day pass is appealingly cheap, and the December-to-March season window is standard for the region.

The honest caveats are substantial. Snow reliability sits at a worrying 22/100 - you will frequently encounter thin cover or closed terrain, especially in marginal seasons. The mountain is tiny by any standard; even intermediate skiers will exhaust the terrain in a morning. Off-piste is negligible (1/5 rating), so this is pure piste skiing, and with only three lifts, expect queues on weekends. The resort offers no après-ski infrastructure or mountain restaurants worth mentioning.

Come here if you live nearby, want to introduce children to skiing on a budget, or are documenting Olympic venues. Do not expect groomed corduroy, reliable snow, or a full day's entertainment. This is a relic of Cold War sports infrastructure, charming in its own way, but functionally obsolete as a serious ski destination.
