Raten is a micro-resort suited to families with young children, school groups, or locals seeking a quick ski fix near Zug. With just 0.6 km of piste and a 38 m vertical drop, this is not a destination for serious skiers or anyone chasing varied terrain - it is a teaching hill, pure and simple. The three lifts and modest elevation gain make it ideal for beginners taking their first turns or parents introducing toddlers to snow sports in a controlled, low-pressure environment.

The honest caveat: snow reliability is moderate at best (28/100), meaning you will face frequent closures or poor conditions during marginal winters. At CHF 78 for an adult day pass, you are paying premium Alpine prices for a beginner's slope. The season runs November to April, but given the elevation and reliability rating, plan for disappointment in warmer years. There is virtually no off-piste terrain (1/5 rating), so this is exclusively a groomed-run operation.
