Hörnli ski resort
Hörnli is a micro-resort suited only to absolute beginners, families with very young children, or locals seeking a quick after-work run in the St. Gallen foothills. With just 1.2 km of piste, a single lift, and a 77 m vertical drop, this is not a destination resort - it's a training slope masquerading as a ski area. The single easy run and two intermediate runs offer minimal variety, and the variable snow reliability (19/100) means you'll often find yourself on thin cover or artificial snow.
The honest caveat: at CHF 78 for a day pass, you're paying premium Alpine prices for a beginner's hill. There is no off-piste terrain worth mentioning (1/5 rating), no terrain parks, and no reason to travel here unless you live within 30 minutes. The season runs November to April, but given the poor snow reliability, even that window is unreliable. If you're learning to ski, you'd be far better served at a proper Swiss resort with more runs, better snow, and actual value for money.
Hörnli works as a local's quick fix or a stepping stone for absolute beginners before moving to a real resort. For everyone else, keep driving.
