Brülisau ski resort

Brülisau is a micro-resort in the Appenzell Innerrhoden region of northeastern Switzerland, suited squarely to local day-trippers and families seeking a gentle, low-key slope experience rather than serious skiers hunting vertical or varied terrain. With just 2.8 km of piste, five intermediate runs, and a single lift serving a modest 162 m vertical drop, this is skiing at its most intimate and unpretentious. The character is distinctly regional and village-focused, offering a nostalgic Swiss charm that larger resorts have long abandoned.

The honest caveat is snow reliability: at moderate (20/100), Brülisau sits in a marginal zone where winter conditions are inconsistent, and you may find yourself on thin cover or closed runs more often than not. The CHF 78 day pass is reasonable for Switzerland, but only if snow is actually lying. Off-piste is negligible (1/5 rating), so this is exclusively a piste-skier's hill. The season runs November to April, but given the elevation (905-1067 m) and moderate snow record, early and late season visits carry real closure risk.

We recommend Brülisau only if you live nearby, are traveling with very young children learning to ski, or are seeking an authentic, unpressurized Swiss village experience rather than a destination resort.
