Cerro Martial ski resort
Cerro Martial is a bucket-list novelty rather than a serious ski destination. It suits adventurous travellers who want to say they've skied at the bottom of the world, and those visiting Ushuaia for hiking, wildlife, or Patagonian exploration who fancy a quick snow fix. The appeal is almost entirely experiential - skiing in Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost ski area on Earth, with views across the Beagle Channel - rather than terrain or snow quality.
The honest caveats are substantial. With just 1.2 km of piste, one lift, and a vertical drop of 184 m, this is a training slope masquerading as a resort. Snow reliability is poor (15/100), meaning you may arrive to find patchy or no skiable snow even during the June-October season. Off-piste is not an option. The single lift and minimal terrain mean a visit lasts 1-2 hours maximum, not a full day.
At USD 45 for a day pass, you're paying for the story and the location, not the skiing. Go if you're already in Ushuaia and conditions are decent; don't plan a ski trip around it. It's a novelty tick-box, not a destination.
