Purnu ski resort

Purnu is a modest, family-friendly hill in central Finland that suits beginners, young children, and local skiers looking for convenient weekend runs rather than serious alpine terrain. With just 2.2 km of piste, a 92 m vertical drop, and eight runs split heavily toward easy slopes (six easy, two intermediate), this is a learning hill first and foremost. The two-lift setup and EUR 48 day pass make it accessible and unpretentious.

The honest caveat: snow reliability here is poor (16/100), which is the elephant in the room. Finland's variable winters mean you cannot count on consistent cover, and the modest elevation (114-206 m) offers no buffer against thaw. The season runs October to May in theory, but early and late months are gambles. Off-piste is negligible (1/5 rating), so you are entirely dependent on groomed runs. This is not a destination resort; it is a local hill for nearby residents or a training ground for absolute beginners.

If you are planning a Scandinavian ski trip, look elsewhere - Levi, Ruka, or even Swedish resorts offer far better snow and terrain. Purnu works only if you live within an hour's drive and want a quick midweek session or a safe place to teach children the basics.
