Stozhok is a micro-resort in the Urals that suits only the most adventurous budget travellers or locals seeking a novelty day out. With just 1.8 km of piste, 123 m of vertical, and two lifts serving a base elevation of 329 m, this is skiing in name only - think of it as a gentle slope park rather than a destination resort. The appeal lies entirely in its extreme affordability and the curiosity factor of skiing in Russia's industrial heartland.

The brutal caveat is snow reliability: at 15/100, you're gambling heavily on winter conditions. The Urals' maritime-influenced climate means rain, thaw cycles, and bare patches are the norm. Off-piste terrain is negligible (1/5 rating), so there's no powder escape route. A RUB 3500 day pass is genuinely cheap by European standards, but only if snow actually exists. The November-to-April season window is long on paper, but early and late season are often slush or dirt.
