Ялгора (Yalgora) ski resort

Yalgora is a micro-resort in Karelia that suits only the most adventurous budget travellers or locals seeking a novelty experience - not serious skiers. With just 1.5 km of piste, 81 m of vertical, and two easy runs plus one intermediate, this is essentially a training slope masquerading as a resort. The snow reliability rating of 15/100 is alarming; you're gambling heavily on conditions during the November-to-April window, and the flat base elevation (32 m) means marginal snow quality even when it does fall.

The single lift and minimal terrain mean you'll exhaust the skiing in under an hour. The RUB 3,500 day pass is eye-watering for what amounts to a local practice hill - that's premium Alpine pricing for a nursery slope. Off-piste is a non-starter (1/5 rating). There is no apres-ski, no village infrastructure, and no reason to travel here unless you're researching Russian ski culture or need a photo op.

Skip Yalgora unless you're a completist visiting every Russian resort or seeking the novelty of skiing in Karelia. Even then, check snow conditions obsessively before committing. This is a local hill, not a destination.
