カムイみさかスキー場, Kamui Misaka Ski ski resort

Kamui Misaka is a tiny, beginner-focused resort in Yamanashi Prefecture that suits families and novices looking for a low-pressure introduction to skiing in Japan. With just 2 km of piste across four easy runs and one intermediate, this is not a destination for serious skiers or anyone seeking varied terrain. The modest 176 m vertical drop and four lifts mean you'll lap the same slopes repeatedly, which works fine for learning but will bore intermediate skiers within hours.

The critical caveat is snow reliability: rated just 8/100, this is a marginal snow zone where conditions are highly unpredictable. You may arrive to find thin cover or rain rather than powder. The day pass price of JPY 6000 is steep for such limited terrain and unreliable conditions - you're essentially paying premium rates for a nursery slope. Off-piste is negligible (1/5 rating), so there's no backcountry escape if groomed runs disappoint.

Kamui Misaka works as a convenient local hill for Tokyo-area residents or as a confidence-building stop for absolute beginners, but it should never be your primary ski destination. Pair it with a visit to a more substantial Japanese resort, or skip it entirely if snow conditions look marginal before you travel.
