グリーンバレー神室スキー場, Green Valley Kamuro Ski Area ski resort

Green Valley Kamuro is a tiny, local hill in Yamagata Prefecture that suits families and beginners seeking a low-key, affordable introduction to skiing in Japan - not serious skiers hunting vertical or varied terrain. With just 2.6 km of piste, a single lift, and a modest 148 m vertical drop, this is a hill for learning fundamentals and enjoying the social aspect of a neighbourhood ski area, not for building technique or chasing powder days. The three intermediate runs and one advanced option mean you will exhaust the terrain quickly, and the variable snow reliability (0/100) is a significant caveat - you may show up to find marginal conditions or closures, particularly early or late in the season.

The real appeal here is accessibility and price: at JPY 6000 per adult day pass, this is genuinely affordable skiing, and the single-lift setup keeps crowds manageable. The December-to-May season window is generous for Japan, but snow quality and consistency are not guaranteed. Off-piste terrain is negligible (1/5 rating), so there is no backcountry escape if groomed runs disappoint. This is a resort for locals, school groups, and visitors who value convenience and cost over challenge or snow quality - treat it as a fun, casual outing rather than a serious ski destination.
