いいづなリゾートスキー場, IIZUNA HIGASHI KOGEN RESORT ski resort

Iizuna Higashi Kogen Resort suits intermediate skiers and snowboarders seeking a compact, accessible mountain close to Nagano city. It is a modest, no-frills operation - just 8.2 km of piste served by four lifts - but that simplicity is its strength for families, day-trippers, and those new to skiing who want manageable terrain without overwhelming choice or crowds. The 544 m vertical drop and base elevation of 925 m mean reliable snow cover through the December-to-March season in this part of Nagano Prefecture.

The honest caveat: this is not a destination resort. There is little off-piste terrain, limited terrain variety, and no après-ski infrastructure to speak of. Experienced skiers will find the piste map exhausted in a morning. The four lifts keep things simple but also mean potential queues during peak weekends. Iizuna works best as a half-day or full-day excursion from Nagano city, or as a gentle introduction to Japanese skiing for those not ready for the larger, more complex resorts in the region.
