ASHIMOI KANKO高穂スキー場, Ashimoi Kanko Takaho Ski Area ski resort
Ashimoi Kanko Takaho is a micro-resort suited only to absolute beginners, young children, or those seeking a novelty experience in Hokkaido. With just 0.5 km of piste, 80 m of vertical, and a single lift, this is not a destination for anyone seeking meaningful skiing or progression. The resort's appeal lies entirely in its accessibility for first-timers and families with very young children who need a gentle, low-pressure introduction to snow sports.
The honest caveat is stark: this is a training slope masquerading as a resort. There is no terrain variety, no off-piste opportunity, and no reason to spend more than an hour or two here. The winter season runs December through March, but even within that window, snow reliability at such a low elevation (base 60 m, top 130 m) is questionable. Hokkaido's powder reputation does not extend to this pocket-sized operation.
We would only recommend Ashimoi Kanko Takaho as a supplementary stop for families already committed to a larger Hokkaido resort, or for those documenting Japan's smallest ski areas. It is not a standalone destination.
