ホワイトバレースキー場, White Valley Ski Area ski resort

White Valley is a tiny, beginner-focused hill in Gunma Prefecture that suits families with young children or absolute novices looking for a gentle introduction to skiing in Japan. With just 3 easy runs, 1 intermediate, and 2 lifts across 2.8 km of terrain, this is not a destination for serious skiers or anyone seeking varied challenges. The 374 m vertical drop and modest 1021 m summit elevation mean you're working with a compact, low-altitude mountain that will feel more like a practice slope than a proper resort.

The critical issue here is snow reliability - a rating of 12/100 is alarming. Gunma's location and elevation make natural snowfall unpredictable, and you should expect frequent closures or thin coverage throughout the December-to-March season. The resort will likely depend heavily on artificial snow, which is expensive and weather-dependent. At JPY 6000 for an adult day pass, the pricing is eye-watering for what amounts to a small local hill with minimal terrain and questionable snow conditions.

White Valley makes sense only as a convenient, low-stakes option for Tokyo-area families wanting a quick ski outing without traveling far. For anyone else - international visitors, intermediate or advanced skiers, or those seeking reliable snow - look elsewhere in Japan. The combination of tiny terrain, poor snow reliability, and premium pricing makes this a hard sell.
