ウィングヒルズ白鳥リゾート, WINGHILLS Shiratori Resort ski resort

WINGHILLS Shiratori is a small, intimate resort in Gifu Prefecture that suits families and intermediate skiers seeking a low-key Japanese mountain experience without the crowds or expense of Nagano's mega-resorts. With 10.8 km of piste across 13 runs and a modest 466 m vertical, it's not a destination for serious vertical hunters, but the balanced mix of 5 easy, 4 intermediate, and 4 advanced runs means most ability levels can find their rhythm. The season runs December through May, giving it a longer window than many Japanese resorts, though snow reliability is variable at best - this is not a place to bank on consistent powder.

The standout strength is accessibility and value: at JPY 6000 for an adult day pass, it's genuinely affordable by Japanese standards, and the four lifts keep lines minimal. Off-piste terrain rates 2/5, suggesting some interesting side-country options for those willing to explore beyond the marked runs. The honest caveat is that this is a resort for those prioritizing experience and community over terrain volume or guaranteed snow. If you're chasing deep powder or 2000+ vertical metres, look elsewhere. But if you want to ski Japan without the tourist machinery, enjoy a quiet day on well-groomed intermediate terrain, and appreciate a resort where locals outnumber visitors, WINGHILLS Shiratori delivers exactly that.
