Yanming Crab Island is a curiosity rather than a serious ski destination. With just 0.5 km of piste and two lifts, this Henan resort suits only the most casual beginners or those seeking a novelty experience in a region where skiing is still emerging. The typical December-to-March season aligns with China's winter window, but the variable snow reliability and zero off-piste terrain mean you're entirely dependent on artificial snow and fair conditions.

The standout caveat is the day pass cost: CNY 400 is premium pricing for what amounts to a small training slope. For that investment, you'd expect significantly more vertical, terrain variety, and snow certainty. There's no lift infrastructure to speak of, and the 1/5 off-piste rating confirms this is purely a groomed-run operation with no backcountry appeal. This works only if you're in Henan for other reasons and want a quick ski fix, or if you're documenting China's ski expansion.

We'd skip Yanming Crab Island unless you're a completist or have specific local ties. Better value and terrain exist elsewhere in China, and internationally, the cost-to-terrain ratio is indefensible.
