Kašperské Hory ski resort
Kašperské Hory is a micro-resort suited only to complete beginners seeking a gentle introduction to skiing in Central Europe, or families with very young children looking for a local training hill. With just 0.3 km of piste, a 32 m vertical drop, and a single easy run, this is not a destination resort - it is a practice slope masquerading as a ski area. The two lifts and modest 31 m elevation gain mean you will exhaust the terrain in under an hour.
The honest caveat is the snow reliability: at 23/100, Kašperské Hory sits in the marginal zone where natural snow is unreliable and artificial snow production becomes critical. The season runs December to March, but don't expect consistent conditions. The CZK 1200 day pass is steep for what amounts to a nursery slope, making this poor value for money. Off-piste is negligible (1/5 rating), so there is no backcountry escape if the single run becomes tedious.
We recommend this only as a last-resort option for absolute beginners with no other nearby alternatives, or as a curiosity stop while touring the Plzeň Region. Serious skiers should look elsewhere; even intermediate skiers will find nothing to occupy them here.
